Server Engineer

Description
Servo Software is always seeking experienced Linux/Unix server software engineers and hands-on technical managers to join our team in the development of the world’s premier mobile search service. We are looking for people who have experience designing and developing high volume, carrier-grade services. This person must have excellent written and oral communications skills and a proven history of developing AND deploying large scale server systems and/or subsystems in an agile development environment.

You will work from existing requirements and specifications, produce and maintain design documents, and develop the interfaces, code and unit tests. The position can be a work-at-home opportunity provided that the individual is a proven self-starter capable of maintaining consistent communications with other team members. We have offices in Hangzhou, China and San Mateo, CA. Working from a Campbell, CA office is also possible.

Qualifications
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience developing carrier or ISP-grade server software solutions using agile development methodologies.
• Experience in a distributed work environment (meaning people working around the world).
• Expert-level knowledge of Java or C++ in a Linux environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communications and comfortable with IM and Skype type communication with distributed team members when needed.
• A university degree, preferably in computer science or electrical engineering.

• Experience developing one or more of the following server systems is a plus:
◦ Search engine development
◦ Lucene
◦ MySQL clusters
◦ Hadoop or similar systems
◦ Transport and Session layers
◦ Security subsystems
◦ Data queues
◦ Administrative systems such as system management and reporting subsystems
